Education: “Delayed Success” vs Epic Fail
My normal visitors know I really don’t blog about children, public education, or anything really family related. But I read a few news stories this week that have pushed me to publish this blog entry which will, undoubtedly, result in more stacks of hate-mail. Whatever, I digress.
If you’ve read my blog on riding a motorcycle, you’re familiar with my “if you can’t afford gear, you can’t afford to own a motorcycle” stance. Interestingly enough (right…) I feel the same way about education for children.
If you can’t afford to put your kids in private schools, you can’t afford to have kids.
Now, take a break from your KeyboardDevil shaped voodoo doll and let me justify my statement (or further anger you, whichever you prefer).
Modern public schools are over-crowded, dangerous, and seemly specifically designed to allow students ‘slip through the cracks’. Just read the news!
The numbers don’t lie. See if you can name a single official in our government (from the President all the way down to your local school board administration) that allows their kids to attend public school… Yeah, I can’t either.
Tragically underpaid, over-qualified, over-worked, and under-appreciated Master’s graduates are being crammed with 30-60 kids in a classroom, and thanks to your political choices, forced to teach at varying rates so “everyone gets a chance” or some such shit.
Call me a pessimist if you like, but I just can’t see the sense in throwing an otherwise creative and intelligent kid into that mess.
i totally agree! we just had our first! working our butts off to further our careers and make sure we can write that private school check! especially since we live in Florida!
